Commission and Payout
- Is the percentage fair for the work required?
- Does the product have a recurring commission element?
- Are there high-ticket upsells in the funnel?
Evaluation Guide
A simple framework to judge whether a product is worth your time, your traffic, and your reputation.

The Selection Problem
When you first start affiliate marketing, it is tempting to promote anything that offers a high commission. But the payout percentage is only one part of a successful offer.
If the product is low quality, your refund rate will be high. If the sales page is poorly designed, your traffic will bounce. And if the merchant is untrustworthy, you might never see the commissions you earned.
Evaluating an offer before you commit is the fastest way to avoid wasted effort. If you are still in the earlier stages, start with how to pick affiliate products to see how selection fits into the wider business model.
The 4-Pillar Framework
To keep your evaluation objective, look at every potential offer through these four pillars.
A great offer doesn't have to be perfect in every category, but it should have a clear strength in at least three of them.
The Merchant Factor
A 75% commission on a product that nobody buys is worth exactly zero.
Professional merchants invest in their funnels. They run split tests on their headlines, they provide high-quality banners and swipes for affiliates, and they have clear terms of service.
When you evaluate an offer, look for "affiliate support." If a merchant provides tools to help you succeed, it's a strong sign they value their affiliate partners. You can see a list of helpful resources in our best affiliate tools guide.
